Outline

Introduction

The Performance Technologies Group (PTG) is one of the largest usability firms in Australia, consulting across all industry sectors and product types. PTG has worked closely with Accessibility Information Solutions at NILS on many projects reflecting the continuum between usability and accessibility.

This program is intended to give participants an understanding of usability research, design and testing. It provides an introduction to Performance Centred Design methodologies that can be used to ensure the end product aligns with your organisation’s needs while ensuring usability and a positive user experience.

Usability Approach

Specialist consultants will draw on recent usability projects for examples to illustrate how the key processes work in practice. Discover how to undertake:

  • Expert Reviews - selected websites will be used to explore usability heuristic principles and workflow modeling principles.
  • Requirements Gathering Workshops and how these inform the information architecture and workflow development.
  • Competitive Reviews to show how to uncover the guiding business intent of the technology being developed.
  • Usability Testing to validate design and development to ensure that what is being developed is usable by the target demographics.

What you will learn

At the end of the program participants will be able to:

  • Understand key usability concepts and their application in assessing products. Remember, good usability is good for accessibility,
  • Identify the relevant methodologies for usability research, design and testing,
